Inauguration of the “Hong Kong Learning and Teaching Knowledge Base Committee” to Bring Frontier AI Research into Classrooms

[Hong Kong, 18 August 2026] Organised by Infinity Lab R&D and fully supported by Legendary Education Group Limited (“Legendary Education”) as Media Sponsor and Partner, the City Finals Award Presentation Ceremony cum Star Mentor Appointment Ceremony of the “2026 Practifly AI Greater Bay Area Inter-School Mathematical and Logical Thinking Elite Challenge” was grandly held today at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

The competition brought together 127 winning students and their parents from 43 schools across seven cities—including Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macao, Zhuhai, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing—showcasing the vibrant achievements of cross-regional AI-powered education.

The ceremony was officiated by distinguished guests, including Mr. Li Wenbin, Deputy Director-General of the Kowloon Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; The Hon Tang Fei, MH, Member of the Legislative Council (Education); Dr. Siu Chi-chung, Representative of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong; and Mr. Yuen Yu Sum, Chairman and Executive Director of Legendary Education Group Limited.

During the ceremony, Mr. Li Wenbin and The Hon Tang Fei, MH presented letters of appointment to the inaugural committee members and star mentors of the newly established Hong Kong Learning and Teaching Knowledge Base Committee. The organiser also announced that the National Finals will take place at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) this December, where the brand-new “Mathematical Modelling” track was unveiled, marking a new milestone in AI-empowered mathematical and logical education.

Uniting Top Academic Strengths to Deliver Frontier AI Resources to Students

Mr. Yuen Yu Sum, Chairman and Executive Director of Legendary Education Group Limited, stated:

“We are delighted to collaborate with top academic institutions, including The University of Hong Kong, to establish the Hong Kong Learning and Teaching Knowledge Base Committee. Legendary Education has always been committed to educational equity and technological innovation. Through this initiative, we hope to convey a core philosophy: the true purpose of education is not to cultivate ‘exam giants,’ but to foster ‘explorers of life.’ We need generations of young people who think independently, face challenges with courage, explore the unknown, and embrace lifelong learning.”

Mr. Yuen highlighted that AI is not merely a tool for improving learning efficiency, but an essential partner in developing students’ logical reasoning, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills. By integrating competitions, academic research, and classroom practice, the team aims to enable students to apply mathematical knowledge in real-world contexts, building future-ready competencies and innovative mindsets.

Integrating Frontier Research into Teaching: Scholars Establish Knowledge Base Committee

To align with the global transition from “knowledge transmission” to “competency generation” driven by generative AI, the Hong Kong Learning and Teaching Knowledge Base Committee was officially established. Comprising scholars from The University of Hong Kong, South China Normal University, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), alongside frontline educators, the committee aims to integrate AI research outcomes into classroom practice.

The committee features strong research capabilities. Its proprietary “K-Bot Generative AI Knowledge Base Chatbot” and “Alviss Educational AI Platform” previously won Gold and Silver Medals respectively at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. Moving forward, Practifly AI will deepen its collaboration with the committee to embed these scientific advancements into curricula and competition designs, continuously piloting generative AI to co-build a dedicated educational knowledge base with local relevance and cross-regional value.

Fostering Innovation and STEM Talents Across Seven GBA Cities

Officiating guests commended the competition for advancing youth exchange and frontier technology education across the Greater Bay Area. The Hon Tang Fei, MH, Dr. Siu Chi-chung, and Mr. Yuen Yu Sum remarked:

“Mathematical thinking is no longer just formulas in textbooks; it is the foundation for understanding our world, tackling complex challenges, and navigating future AI technologies. While AI assists our learning, the true drivers of the future remain young people equipped with sound judgment and creative thinking.”

By uniting mathematical talents from seven cities, the competition established a cross-regional academic platform and injected strong momentum into nurturing globally minded STEM innovators in Hong Kong.

The organiser noted that it will continue leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantage in connecting the Greater Bay Area with the global community. Through inter-school competitions, academic exchanges, teacher development, and AI education platforms, it will broaden students’ exposure to mathematical thinking and technology while offering systematic instructional support to educators.

National “Mathematical Modelling” Track Debuts Ahead of HKU Finals in December

The organiser unveiled the “Hong Kong Real-Life Contextual Mathematical Modelling Questions” co-developed by the committee and confirmed that the National Finals will be held at The University of Hong Kong in December. Grounded in everyday and social scenarios, this new track assesses students’ ability to synthesize mathematical knowledge, data analysis, and logical reasoning to develop practical, creative solutions.

On the following day (19 August), an “AI Teacher Lab Workshop” will be held at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at HKU. Over a dozen principals and teachers will design school-based AI course agents on-site, preparing educators for the National Finals and future technology-driven teaching.
